Airport may pay $8.8 million for hotel: Deal pending; Westin won’t open until at least 2009

The Indianapolis Airport Authority board this month approved spending up to $8.8 million to help fund construction of a hotel connected to the midfield terminal set to debut Oct. 28. But delays in finalizing a deal with developer Mansur Real Estate Services means the $50-million-plus Westin will not be ready for guests until August 2009 at the earliest. Airline to cut workers at Fort Wayne airport

Utah-based SkyWest Airlines will cut 15 jobs at Fort Wayne International Airport after it lost a ground-handling contract, reports The Journal Gazette, citing a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice filed with the state. Technology park could boost area’s biomedical efforts: First phase of Purdue project, featuring accelerator building for up to 25 startups, should be finished this year

The park is expected to be a major amenity for the area’s growing biomedical economic development efforts. Purdue Research Foundation paid $2.5 million in June to purchase a half-interest in 78 acres at AmeriPlex industrial park. The more than 4,000 employees at the region’s second-largest manufacturer are waiting to learn whether some will lose their jobs.
