A man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of drunk driving after plowing his car into Kuntz Memorial Soccer Stadium. A witness said he saw a green Cadillac driving eastbound on West 16th Street about 3:15 a.m. directly into oncoming traffic before crashing. The driver, Santonio Rivers of Indianapolis, was uncooperative, had bloodshot eyes and disheveled clothing, and smelled of alcohol, police said. The stadium, home to IUPUI’s soccer team and the annual high school soccer championships, sustained $50,000 in damage.

Vectren utility crews are working to repair a leaking underground gas line in Fishers in an area just south of East 116th Street and Lantern Road. The small underground leak in a 3-inch main was discovered Monday about 12:15 a.m. Crews have closed Lantern Road in the area but said there was no danger to nearby residents.
 

A Tuesday morning fire forced the evacuation of a smoke-filled Target store in suburban Indianapolis. The Fishers Fire Department said the blaze began in a rear storage room of the store near Interstate 69 and 116th Street and was put out when a fire sprinkler activated. No injuries were reported. The store was closed while health department inspectors checked out the grocery department.

A man was shot to death near West 16th Street and North Tibbs Avenue on Sunday night in Indianapolis. Officers called to the scene in the 1900 block of North Exeter Avenue at about 7:30 p.m. found the victim in the driveway of a home, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The homeowner was taken into custody for questioning.

A gasoline spill in Fishers on Monday morning prompted the evacuation of a nearby medical building and temporarily blocked access to a neighboring shopping center. The spill happened at 10 a.m. at the Ricker's BP gas station at East 116th Street and Cumberland Road. The Fishers Fire Department worked to clean up as much as the spill as possible but as much as 50 gallons may have gone into a storm drain. Officials are trying to determine if there’s a potential danger to local waterways. No injuries were reported.

Indianapolis police have arrested four suspects in connection with four armed robberies on Labor Day: Elliot Johnson, 20; Shaquille Carter, 19; Brandon Nabors, 18; and a male juvenile. All are from Indianapolis. Three of the robberies happened in the span of several minutes just before 12:30 p.m. Monday near 16th Street and College Avenue. A fourth robbery took place a few hours later. Several victims were beaten and another was struck by a car while riding his bike.

Two people were killed in a single-car accident Thursday morning in Boone County near Michigan Road and West 116th Street. Police say the vehicle was traveling on Michigan about 5:30 a.m. when it left the road, hit a pole and burst into flames. Officers closed the road temporarily but reopened a portion of it a short time later. Police say speed may have been a factor in the crash.

A Noblesville mother was arrested Monday afternoon after police say she left her 4-year-old son inside a hot car at a Fishers shopping center. Roni Penn, 34, faces a preliminary charge of neglect of a dependent for leaving the boy in the car outside the SuperTarget near 116th Street and Interstate 69. Penn said she left the boy alone for about 30 minutes because he didn’t want to go inside. Police said the temperature in the car was at least 100 degrees. The child was checked out by paramedics and released to his father.
