  1. Did these two groups just announce that they are betting $50 million that the hotel market is not over-saturated? Does that sound like hypocrisy?

    1. Yes. Hypocrisy at its finest.

This site is two blocks from the Convention Center and across the street from Circle Centre and Hampton Inn Downtown. Of course people will stay there for conventions, especially if the room rate is cheaper than “convention hotels”. Younger customers especially go where they want, not where their association tells them to go.

  2. Do Mike Wells and Bruce White know no shame. These two guys have thrived off of tax payer handouts for years and they had pledged to wage a political war against Mayor Hogsett if Pan Am hotels proceeded as planned – why? Now we know, they didn’t want business at their new hotels affected. What is next – they ask for TIF dollars or tax abatements for the new hotels?

  3. 206 rooms is far smaller than the other tower that the combined development that these developers opposed and neither of their properties will have much meeting space. So while a whiff of hypocrisy might be involved, one can oppose a specific development (i.e. the Hilton Pan Am hotels) without being opposed to all development.

    1. Steven A.-I get it, they are opposed to all development they don’t control but if it is something they control then full steam ahead. This is more than a “whiff” of hypocrisy, this reeks of it.

  4. Steve A. – excuse me for being cynical, but it does seem you might be employed by Bruce White. Let me know how the hypocrisy works out when they ask for a TIF handout.
