Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard last week signed an order amending the Rules of Professional Conduct. The new rule prevents attorneys from soliciting clients in personal injury or wrongful death cases within 30 days of an accident or disaster.
The order notes past abuses and the "sensitized state" of victims who may be either injured or grieving.
The ban covers in-person, written or electronic solicitations.
The new rule takes effect Jan. 1.
