The previous high was was 946 on April 27—a number that included more than 400 cases in Cass County stemming from an outbreak at a meat-processing plant.
The state has now reported more than 600 cases daily for the past 10 days. Total positive cases in the state since the beginning of the pandemic have risen to 59,602.
The state also reported 17 new deaths Thursday, bringing the total to 2,683.
Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb cited rising COVID-19 positivity rates Wednesday when said he would issue a statewide mask mandate. The overall positivity rate actually dipped on Thursday, from 9% to 8.9%, after the state saw a surge in testing.
Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day.

Does anyone verify these numbers? We should make certain these number are 100% accurate before the are made public. Seems like there are a lot of suspicious numbers being thrown around country wide.
I doubt it. It’s all pollical. Media and Democrats take certain parts of the numbers to fit what their agenda is. They also lump most diseases and illnesses in with Covid. They also use scare tactics because they want everyone to live in fear. During the lection they will blame it on Trump. Businesses and health places go along with it because they don’t want to be sued. This has very little to do with the virus or peoples health.
Oh, so now the knuckleheads are moving to the “fake news” argument?
Just stop testing all together. Then there will be no cases and no data and the problem will be solved. The virus will be non-existent.
Why didn’t the orange one think of that? Oh yeah, that’s right, he did. And he said it out loud. And nobody even blinked. I’m sure they could install a conveyor belt for the corpses to go to a mass grave and we won’t have to think about that part either.
Even the times magazine did an article on how bloated and inaccurate the numbers are.

I am Happy to see the Deaths low! We were at just over 2500 weeks ago and haven’t broken 2700 yet… so deaths are low. Remember, people die every day from a number of reasons. 2.9 million people die every year in the U.S. and 647,000 people die every year of Heart disease in the U.S. We need to be careful, wash hands, wear masks and have good hygiene while keeping this all in perspective.
Today’s high number is directly related to the high number of tests reported. 7.91% of the tests were positive. This is not even in the top 10 positive percentages. Here’s a spreadsheet collecting data over time:

If you get past the sensationalized headline of “State reports all-time daily high in new COVID-19 cases” and check into the numbers, there are a couple of interesting points. 1) The “all-time” daily high came on a day with 12,054 tests, (is that an all-time high? be good to know?) or a 7.9% positive rate. (954 / 12,054) 2) The cumulative positive rate has dropped to 8.9%, which is the lowest it’s been. So, the “all-time” high day positive rate percentage is a full percent below the cumulative positive percentage. Great reporting IBJ, don’t say a thing about that!! Remember, MORE TESTS means MORE POSITIVES, it’s that simple. And then there’s the not talked about anymore (because they don’t fit the fear narrative) hospital stats of plenty of ICU beds and ventilators.

Interesting. With all this good news on testing and percentages, why did the White House task force say we are one of 11 new hotspots? Must be talking about the great nightlife.
Guessing the 12,000 tests is also a daily high? IBJ needs clicks and the headline did bring the Democrats out of the woodwork, so I get it.
No, it wasn’t a daily high for testing, but we did point out that testing surged.

The public can decide with accurate data. Not epidemiologists with an agenda.
