  1. It takes some gall to not pay staff enough to retain them then to whine about it.

    They’re a non-profit sitting on $9 billion.

Maybe if they want to take shots at legislators, do so for allowing county hospitals to buy nursing homes and diverting the money intended for patients for executive salaries and new buildings while the elderly die neglected… hiding behind laws passed by those legislators as they do it.

  2. The Ball State economist Michael Hicks had a great online article about hospitals sitting on wads of money a couple of months ago. So basically, what IU Health is saying is that “yeah, we have billions in the piggy bank, but that next billion we thought we could easily obtain is gonna take a little longer.” It’s rubbish.

  3. How.about the State of Indiana has $5 billion in the rainy day fund….hate to tell the legislators and governor….It’s been raining for 2 years…yet they don’t spend it or return it to tax payers who could use the money….IU Health is just the same.

  4. Let’s connect the dots. IU Health wants the State to pay more for public health…..then, IU Health collects more $ from the State under the Medicaid and Disproportionate Share Programs……then, IU Health adds to its $8.3 BILLION IN CASH and its $2+ BILLION PER YEAR IN PROFITS…. while collecting even more $ on the highest commercial health insurance rates in the State. NOBODY IN INDIANA IS SERIOUS ABOUT LOWERING HEALTH CARE COSTS!
