Way to go Bart! School choice is the best way to create competition that results in better opportunities for students.
Mike J H…creating competition that results in better opportunities for students only works when all schools compete on an equal footing. Because IPS, for instance, must by law admit all students and cannot turn away any while charter schools do not, IPS bears a larger and heavier burden in pursuit of excellence. Simply put, public schools and charter schools are not equal and thus any competition between the two will is unfair.
Charter schools do not play by the same rules as public schools. Therefore don’t call your PAC, Hoosiers for Great Public Schools.
This is disappointing to read. The systemic dismantling of Pubic Schools in Indianapolis has been going on since the Goldsmith era. Between vouchers and charter schools, the funding for Public schools has been diminishing. The track record of many of local charters has been less than stellar and the money they’ve squandered could have been invested in Public schools. The expectation that Charters can acquire a former IPS school building for $1.00 is just won indication of the bias favoring charters. Better opportunities for students can be created by strong investment in public schools.
Charter schools are phenomenal idea unless they push the same CRT and SEL agenda. Teach children what to think is indoctrination whick leads to tyranny, teaching them how to think leads to freedom and liberty.
Ah yes, banning books in school libraries will expose students to a wider array of ideas that will lead to greater freedoms and liberty. Except when it comes to the freedom to read unpopular books that one end of the political spectrum fears.
