Anyone from the UAW who votes no to GM’s offer can live on the $500 week strike pay and someone else can take their place at the assembly line.
“…they’ll get about 33%.” Anyody else getting a 33% raise? And they’re voting it down???
That’s 33% since 2008.
Since 2008…. don’t forget the 15 profit sharing checks in between.
In Feb 2023 42,300 U.S. hourly GM workers received a profit-sharing check of up to $12,750. The before-taxes payout for its UAW-represented workforce is an increase from $10,250 paid out in 2021 and about $9,000 in 2020. It is a record payout. The highest payout, prior to this one, was in 2016 at $12,000 per employee. The UAW never mentioned this in their press communications, nor did most media coverage, during the strike.
Wow, sometimes when one draws a line in the sand like this it ends up no good for either party. They definitely deserve a raise but turning this down may come back to bite ’em in the rear end. There are many others hungry enough to step in and take the place of those who want steak over hamburger.
