Indianapolis-based Celadon Trucking said it will help Farmington, N.Y.-based Priority America wind down its over-the-road trucking operations, but did not disclose the value of the agreement.

Celadon will handle some of Priority America’s customer loads and assist a lender retrieve tractors and trailers and collect accounts receivable.

However, Celadon will not buy assets of the New York trucking firm.

Priority America – blaming high fuel prices, weak freight demand and a tightening credit market – said its operation in the northwest Indiana city of Chesterton is among those being phased out.

But the downturn in the trucking industry has shown signs of reversal for Celadon, whose stock has nearly doubled from a low of $6.50 last December.
