Woman killed by hit-and-run driver

Police say a 78-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run Sunday night while walking home from a rural church a few miles west of Zionsville. Anita Wernsing was struck along State Road 267 about 100 yards from Mount Tabor Primitive Church. Investigators say the vehicle that hit Wernsing ran off the road, then continued northbound without stopping. Police are examining automotive parts left at the scene in hopes of finding the vehicle.
