Juan Gonzalez has been named central Indiana market president at KeyBank, the bank announced Tuesday.

Gonzalez, 44, who has 18 years of banking experience, previously served as business banking sales leader at KeyBank. He will continue in that role in addition to his new responsibilities as market president.

Monday marked Gonzalez’s first day in his new role. He replaces former KeyBank market president Aaron Reitz, whose last day at the bank was Friday.

Cleveland-based KeyBank is the seventh largest bank in the Indianapolis area based on local employment, with 271 employees. The bank reported $2 billion in local deposits and 43 local branches.

As market president, Gonzalez will serve as the executive face of the bank. As part of that role, he will help develop and implement the bank’s community lending and investment strategies.

“I look forward to continuing all of our efforts through the KeyBank Foundation and our Community Benefits Plan to keep making a difference in the KeyBank footprint,” Gonzalez said in a written statement.

Gonzalez is vice chairman of the board of directors of the Indianapolis Public Transportation Corp., which oversees the city’s IndyGo bus service. He is treasurer at EmployIndy and chairman of the Indiana Latino Scholarship Fund.

KeyBank spokesman Jeff Kew said Reitz decided to leave the bank to focus on personal business projects and investments.

On his LinkedIn profile, Reitz describes himself as a private investor, business adviser, partner and board member. The profile also identifies Reitz as managing director of Tactical Holdings and CBC Partners as of this month.
