On Saturday night, Patron Saint will replace Subterra Lounge at 250 S. Meridian St. New owners and hospitality industry veterans John Larner, Slater Hogan and Brandy Allen-Harveth acquired the business Oct. 7 and decided to change concepts.
Subterra Lounge has operated at the site since 2005.
Patron Saint will feature Big Easy-styled decor with art installations by local artists Shane Brown and Brian Presnell. The drink menu will focus on cocktails associated with New Orleans, including hurricanes, gin fizzes, Abita Beer and Sazerac.
“We each travel to New Orleans often and absolutely love the vibe of the city,” said Allen-Harveth in written remarks. “After being in the hospitality industry for a number of years, we wanted to bring a new, fresh concept to Indianapolis that celebrated the history and lifestyle of another city we love.”
The venue, which has a capacity of 186, plans to be open from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. daily, but will have specific programming on various nights, including underground house and techno on Thursdays and Latin Night on Fridays, as well as several other formats throughout the month.
The new owners all have experience as club DJs and music promoters. Larner, a New Orleans native, and Hogan have worked for Live Nation to book events at Old National Centre and other venues.
“One of my favorite aspects of Patron Saint will be what we call alternative programming,” Hogan said in written comments. “Based on the relationships we’ve developed through the years in the entertainment scene, we will feature nationally known performers, up-and-coming artists, local DJs and more.”
