Pfizer’s insulin-production plant in Terre Haute was not on a list of plant closings the New York pharmaceutical giant announced today.

Pfizer said it would shutter one plant each in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Omaha, Neb., along with research two facilities in Ann Arbor, Mich., and one in Kalamazoo, Mich. The company cited the closings as part of eliminating 10,000 jobs, or 10 percent of its work force, in order to cut more than $1.5 billion of expenses by 2008.

The Terre Haute plant is undergoing a $170 million expansion to make Exubera, an inhaled version of insulin. The expansion will add 450 workers.
