Steak n Shake Co. said today it is using frying oil with no trans fat at its 478 restaurants, but it isn’t first to switch. Kentucky Fried Chicken and other companies have eliminated the unsaturated fat due to its reputation for raising cholesterol levels.

Indianapolis-based Steak n Shake has introduced yogurt shakes, chicken sandwiches and other new menu items to lure health-conscious customers.
