After being forced out of his high-paying job with WellPoint Inc. earlier this year, David C. Colby is now selling his house.

Asking price: $1.6 million.

The historic home owned by Colby and Angela Doan, who called herself his wife, features six bathrooms, five bedrooms, three fireplaces and a 1.25-acre lot. The brick structure encompasses 8,100 square feet. Ted Butz of F.C. Tucker Co lists it for sale.

WellPoint ousted Colby as its vice chairman and chief financial officer on May 30 for undisclosed personal conduct violations. The move came days after a California woman who also used Colby’s last name sued him for allegedly reneging on a promise to give her his $4.4 million house outside Los Angeles.

Colby has since been sued by a third woman, also in California, for sexual battery. Both women in California claim Colby maintained relationships with numerous women, both in Indianapolis and in California.

Colby moved from California to Indianapolis after the former Anthem Inc. bought WellPoint Health Networks and took its name. The company is now the second-largest health insurer in the nation.

In 2006, WellPoint gave Colby more than $3.8 million in salary, bonus, stock and perks.

Colby and Doan bought their 100-year-old house in October 2005 and restored it. This spring, the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana gave “the Colbys” an award for their work.
