WNOU owner Emmis Communications Corp. last month changed the format on the 93.1 frequency and sold the “Radio Now” intellectual property to Radio One, but its morning team decided to move on.
Marco, Shannon and Super Phat Mikey visited the studio during today’s morning drive time slot at the new WNOU-FM 100.9 to break the news to their Indianapolis listeners. Their show begins airing on Atlanta’s WSTR-FM 94.1 in January.
WNOU brought in more than $4 million in revenue last year, but Emmis officials said they had difficulty making the station profitable under the adult-contemporary format. Emmis officials will broadcast Christmas music at 93.1 until they begin airing news-talk in January.
As recently has late last month, local Radio One officials said they were trying to retain many of the on-air personalities that made WNOU a hit with listeners in their teens and 20s.
