The taxpayers of a district buy land and build/maintain buildings over a course of many years but are expected to lose their entire investment to outside interests when trying to be efficient? This is the type of fiscal responsibility the state legislature wants? Madness.
Free public education has proven to be ” The Great Equalizer” for many decades in this country and it continues to be sacrificed by our State Legislature for their political agenda.
Those buildings were built and maintained by taxpayer dollars for the sole purpose of providing free public education for all. And when they are no longer to be used for that purpose, they should be sold to the highest bidder with the proceeds of the sales used solely for the continued purpose of providing free public education to all.
The State Legislature doesn’t want fiscal responsibility and choice when it comes to this issue. That is simply their talking points to achieve their real goal, which is to eliminate Teacher Unions even if they have to destroy free public education for all in the process.
