The powerful Club for Growth political action committee is endorsing Sen. Mike Braun in the Indiana governor’s race, the organization announced Tuesday.
“Sen. Mike Braun is a proven conservative fighter who will stand up and protect Hoosier values as Indiana’s next governor –we are proud to endorse him in the race,” Club for Growth co-founder and President David McIntosh, a former Indiana congressman, said in a written statement. “We will do whatever it takes to ensure Sen. Braun is elected governor.”
The Washington, D.C.-based PAC first endorsed Braun in his 2018 Senate campaign, where he defeated incumbent Democrat Joe Donnelly.
“As a Main Street entrepreneur and the only candidate with a proven conservative record when it comes to less spending, lower taxes, and reducing regulations, I am proud to have the endorsement of Club for Growth,” Braun said in a statement. “After being named one of the most effective and conservative U.S. senators, I will continue to challenge the status quo and offer solutions that will create jobs, lower the cost of health care and improve our schools for Hoosiers.”
Braun also has received the endorsement of Americans for Prosperity, an influential conservative political advocacy group funded by billionaires Charles Koch and the late David Koch, and the National Troopers Coalition.
If elected governor, Braun has promised to cut taxes, reduce the size of government, and ban future state lockdowns and mask mandates.
Internal polling from the campaign of Jennifer McCormick, the likely Democratic nominee in the race, showed Braun holding an edge over fellow GOP candidates Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and former Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill. The two other Republican candidates in the race, Fort Wayne businessman Eric Doden and former Indiana Secretary of Commerce Brad Chambers, were not included in the survey.
The Club for Growth also endorsed U.S. Rep. Jim Banks, who is running for Braun’s Senate seat.

Indiana is already a regressive state. I can’t even imagine how backwards this state will get if Bruan becomes governor.
Not only will Indiana go backwards (think Alabama, Missisippi, and Louisiana), but Braun will make Tommy Tuberville look like a rocket scientist.
Scary isn’t it?! Just think, we could get California’s Patrick Bateman and boldly move toward toward a complete legalization of shoplifting, because, with West Coast “restorative justice” nobody ever feels the need to commit crimes anymore. This is far too progressive for Hoosier hayseeds.
Or, keeping it Midwestern, a real salt-of-the-earth leader like J.B. Pritzker (of the “Pritzker Architecture Prize”) whose family’s net worth really explains his ability to relate to the median person in his state: probably less than a college degree, paying off a mortgage for a 3BR home, lives in a suburb of 30K within 10 miles of a city over 150K. And why people are just flocking to Illinois in droves.
I don’t even really much like Braun. But man he goes up in my estimates when IBJ’s gaggle of intellectual luminaries get this rankled.
“Mississippi of the Midwest”–you can’t make this stuff up! California, Oregon, Washington, Illinois, New York would all kill to have Mississippi’s comparatively straightforward social problems.

Frankie, I guess you’ll have to explain to folks in California, Illinois, New York, and Oregon how good they’ve got it. Because people keep leaving. They all are suffering a net loss in population. And Washington is flat after being fast-growing for many years.
Maybe they aren’t moving to Mississippi–I never said it has a high quality of life–but they’re likely moving to not very forward-thinking places like Texas, Florida, Arkansas, Tennessee, the Carolinas, Georgia.
What’s a “better salary” worth if you’re in California and only 15% can afford homes at their median price?
5, high quality, well funded, Republicans running for Governor!!! The May primary will be about the most fun a political person can have. I have not made my choice yet. I look forward to hearing more from all of them. Indiana is on a roll and I’ll be voting for the person I believe is best suited to continue and accelerate our growth.
One factor that is crucial to growth is “quality of life”. We need to have better roads, policing, education, parks, trails, festivals, etcetera. We need more people born here, staying here and moving here.
Agree on more emphasis to be put on the “quality of life” issues.

Today’s Indiana Republican Party has no interest in meaningful, transformative quality of life improvements for Indiana. They want to be the Mississippi of the Midwest.
Their only interest is cutting taxes yet again and social legislation.
For his entire term in the Senate he did absolutely nothing for Indiana or our country.
This is not the person we need or should want as our governor.
But to quote his debate – “I OWNED A BUSINESS AND ILL DO WHATEVER TRUMP TELLS ME TO”

David Koch is NOT supporting Braun for governor. He died in 2019.
Brent, the story doesn’t say David Koch is is supporting Braun. It says Americans for Prosperity was funded by Koch. Many people continue to fund organizations after they die.
One Koch brother is still alive and is carrying on the legacy of economic neo-liberalism that benefits big business by keeping labor costs down…often by replacing native born labor with immigrants. Pure sleazebag move, but, as many of us have said for years, aside from being about the same age, Charles Koch and George Soros agree on about 80% of the same sleazebag principles.
So Braun has locked up the Billionaires yearning to be Oligarchs PAC’s . Even more reasons for the people to oppose him. We don’t want their puppet to be our Governor.
