Incredible. Go LLY. Go Indiana.
There goes more farmland.
Oh no, wherever will we grow the gasoline now?
MAGA LLY!
Lilly always invest heavily in Indiana regardless. Every State in the Union would love if Eli Lilly was Hq there.
^^^This.
It is impossible to overstate the value to Indianapolis and Central Indiana of having Lilly HQ here. 12,000 well-paid and stable corporate jobs are the envy of, well, everyplace else.
This is closely followed by the value to Indianapolis and Central Indiana of having the Lilly Endowment own 10% of LLY stock, providing a small hurdle to an acquisition and removal of those well-paid and stable jobs. In the pharma industry, only Novo has a more-stable ownership, since it is owned entirely by a foundation.
(With all that said, most likely these newly announced plants will go elsewhere to give LLY some geographic diversity in their manufacturing portfolio.)
I hope Lilly makes at least one of these in Indiana….I realize it’s now an international behemoth but it is still an Indiana grown company
Lilly should consider Northwest Indiana and the strategic alignment with the Greater South Shore double track commuting workforce from Chicago through Lake, Porter, LaPorte, and Saint Joseph counties – public transportation and direct utility for workforce movement. Additional strategic alignment with the NW IN Quantum Corridor to literally speed clinical research and development.
Agreed!
Exactly!
The very most effective and APPRECIATED contribution through the Lilly Endowment, one that EVERYONE in central Indiana would see, feel and use on a daily basis is the following:
Dedicate, along with appropriate signage…..multi millions that directly go to rebuild, resurface and recondition streets, roads, alleys, avenues, boulevards, state highways and even Interstate highways within all of Marion county. The work trucks and crews could have Lilly signage with small signs places wherever their benevolent projects were completed. Divert money from some of the ongoing ‘social projects’ which are mostly administration costs. The city and state officials would need to ‘get on board’ in order to make it happen. This is a true ‘Legacy gift’ that if nothing else goes toward safety of all travelers. You can have all the ‘events’ and conventions…but huge ‘chuckholes’ and irregular, bumpy, dangerous pavement is what visitors remember.
