Ramping up: Williams Creek Management Corp. has been in business since 2003, but it wasn’t until 2020 that it implemented a growth plan. “Many of the reasons we’ve been successful is that we have a very client-focused firm where we deliver what we refer to as consulting contracting,” President Neil Myers said. “We spend a lot of time communicating with our clients. Those relationships get strong over time because we’re providing them solutions that meet their needs both budgetarily and with a project they can be proud of.”
Natural resources work: Williams Creek—which is a construction, installation and preservation firm—works in the natural resource construction world, Myers said. Almost all its work is connected to the U.S. Clean Water Act and successful water and land management. Local governments are clients, as are power providers and real estate developers. “There is always a connection to a natural resource, a creek, a woodland,
a wetland.”
Superior retention: Myers said Williams Creek has a promote-from-within philosophy. Because of that, it has a strong group of emerging leaders and has been able to keep an average 86% retention rate over the last six years when the industry average for retaining new hires is about 35%.
Aggressive growth plans: Williams Creek’s growth plan extends to 2030, and Myers said the company anticipates significant growth from regional expansion and services expansion. The regional expansion will take Williams Creek east of the Mississippi. “We have identified certain geographic areas that we want to [expand in] first, and typically, those are driven by a variety of factors,” Myers said. “But the leading factor is, our clients have a presence there, and they want us to be there.”
More services: Myers said he recognizes some services his company needs more of, so it will add civil construction services to its construction division and increase its role as a general contractor. “We will continue to bring those on, but we do see our growth primarily being driven through regional expansion. We want to be a regional company with a headquarters here in central Indiana.”•
