    1. Most DC-fast chargers are still cheaper than gas for a comparable amount of travel distance. And when you charge at home, it’s way cheaper than gas.

  1. How many “charging stations” will be at these 100 sites? 1? 10? A bit more info would help. If I had an EV and pulled into one of these places and there are multiple vehicles ahead of me at a minimum of 20 minutes each, I would really wish I could put some 87 octane in and get going.

    1. Federal requirements as part of this program mandate no less than four charging points at each location.

  2. With “more than 100 charging stations across the state” that means a little over one per each of the 92 counties. Seems like using a lot of the battery energy just to find a station. Thank goodness for the private enterprise supply of charging stations which is still sparce. For the most part, except for trips, most of the daily use for electric automobiles can easily be managed by slow overnight charging when the car is not being driven. Maybe this plan is designed to promote tourism in Indiana??

    1. Laurence – Yes and yes. It’s designed to promote tourism but more so adoption of EVs. As a PHEV owner 90% of our charging is done at home in our garage. The car charges off a 110v outlet. It’s not fancy. It’s not expensive. It takes 6 hrs. to charge it but who cares. We’re inside sleeping! This is what most EV haters don’t understand. Our Chevy Volt is quickly becoming the best/cheapest vehicle I’ve ever owned.

    2. Pure EVs are cool but it’s not the best step towards helping the environment. PHEV are the better answer yet the auto companies want you spend $50K+ on EV’s. Buy a used hybrid. It’s cheaper and easier to live with.
