With mayor McDermott being a Republican, we assume the potential preferred site will be in his Hammond city, not the democrat controlled Gary. We also assume the recently announced withdrawal of Congressional candidate Green will leave the overall Region in democrat control.
Yet to be seen, but enacting a new regional sales tax like Indy did for the Hoosier Dome and Lucas Oil Stadium, could be a very hard sell to the local population.
