Judge Sullivan is not just anyone. He is, for one thing, a law professor at IU. The Republican majority would be wise to heed his advice.

Note that he agreed with some legislators, too, by suggesting that the Governor is not allowed to just spend the Federal dollars sent to Indiana without legislative action.
Holcomb asked the legislative leaders if they wanted to be called back into emergency session. They said no.
The legislature could have passed a motion ending the emergency declaration at any time during this session. They haven’t.
I get that legislators and their constituents are frustrated with the duration of the pandemic. Everyone is. But the issue since day one has been the virus, not the government’s reaction to it.

The voters of Indiana had the chance in November to vote for a candidate – Don Rainwater – who ran on an anti-mask platform.
He got 11% of the vote. Hence, 89% of Hoosiers had no issues with masks.

Why are these people so mad at Governor Holcomb? Why would they want $$ spent to go to court over this when they were told the following:
“Former Indiana Supreme Court Justice Frank Sullivan said during Thursday’s hearing that he believes both bills are unconstitutional, because the state constitution gives the power of calling special sessions to the governor, not Legislature, and one branch of government cannot do something that another branch has been given explicit power to do.
He said lawmakers also cannot force the governor to call special sessions, which is the approach SB 407 takes.
If either bill became law, he said, any legislation passed during those sessions would be found to be unconstitutional because the session itself was unconstitutional.
“We’d have an unholy mess on our hands,” Sullivan said.”
Good Grief every day people often do things they don’t agree with, but it’s done for the good of all.
I wonder just how many constitutes got in touch with any these legislators? Probably not 89%!
Try this conversation when someone complains about masks, shutdowns, etc:
“Living in America has more good than grumbling about things. COVID has hit everyone, certainly not the same though. Think of it as protecting yourself from others. If that was the case, I’m sure you would take care of yourself. Governor Holcomb is doing what many states are doing with masking & setting limits.”
Then you might add GROW UP!
