This helps, a little, but doesn’t come close to addressing the transportation infrastructure and mobility funding gap.
“ in later years, the first $50 million of any surplus would go to the state’s capital and largest community for “secondary” streets. That’s as long as Indianapolis-Marion County matches the money with dollars not already allotted for transportation.”
What does “allotted” mean? Indianapolis spends $246 million a year on infrastructure. Last I could find, in 2021, Indianapolis was getting $30 million from the state … which went up to $38 million after Freeman’s fix.

Allotted means money already approved or budgeted for transportation, this bill asks for new money.
So if the city has allotted over $200 million from its budget, the state’s response shouldn’t be “That’s adorable. Find more.” Unless they want to defund IMPD…
