  1. Unfortunately the larger 400-600 acre data center proposals in Franklin Tnsp and Morgan County have tainted this proposed project and the neighbor’s perception.
Easy for me to say as a nonresident, but this 14 acre project would actually be good at that existing derelict property location. The actual data facility is non polluting, and both the electrical and water systems will not be overwhelmed, as in those large centers.
The quality of the proposed buildings, drives and parking lots, as shown in the renderings, would establish a level of quality improvements above any current and/or adjacent businesses.
We can assume any found contamination on the site will be removed and disposed of legally.
The location of the backup diesel generators is not clear on the renderings, but those appear to be the only noise or air concerns, and would used only when power is down throughout the area. I’m not in charge, but this sure looks like a positive development for the area.

    1. I don’t often agree with Kevin P. but I do here for all the same reasons. The nearest homes are quite some distance away, and unlikely to be impacted by the data center in any way.

    2. How many diesel generators do they plan to use to support the data center? That’s a good question to have answered.

  2. A key factor in the location, which is not mentioned, is whether or not this particular location is classified as a brownfield. If it is, there are regulatory limits as to what can be built on the property to prevent the spread of contamination as well as to pretect the occupants and the neighbors.

    1. Not a brownfield. It was a drive-in theater until the early 80s and it has been sitting fallow ever since.

However, next door is a junkyard, er, used auto parts store, that used to be a car crushing operation. Also next door is a shaggy trucking company yard and an old “metal finishing” company.

This proposal is miles better than what’s there now.
