What a great use of political and legislative capital to pass such important bills
New revenue source … $8.34 goes to the state, $2.66 goes to the locals.
Just keep that in mind the next time you want to blame Joe Hogsett for roads in Indianapolis.
yeah Joe – Hogsett is doing such a great job. (eye roll)
The last Republican mayor’s idea was to sell off city utilities permanently and use the proceeds to throw a coat of asphalt on top of everything and claim success. Maybe that fooled you but the roads crumbled again soon after he left office.
It’s funny how the folks who claim to hate welfare so much are quiet about the current situation, in which the rest of Indiana is being propped up by Marion and the donut counties. Go drive on a lightly used state highway between two dying Indiana towns and ask yourself, why was money invested here as opposed to where people want to live?
There is plenty of valid reasons to gripe about the job Joe Hogsett is doing. That he isn’t doing enough for roads, when his budgets contribute far more in discretionary road funding than is provided via gas taxes by the state of Indiana, isn’t one of them.
So, let me make sure I understand Joe B. Ballard tried to sell off city utilities (which of course didn’t happen) and then the roads crumbled “soon after.” Then, Hogsett gets elected 10 years ago and the roads which crumbled 10 years ago have continued the process of crumbling with no apparent plan to fix them. I wonder how prior Democrat and Republican mayors were able to solve the state funding issue? Interesting.
You don’t remember how we got the money for RebuildIndy, do you?
Look it up. Don’t forget the 75 year parking meter deal, either. Or how Ballard spent some of the money on fields for the sport of cricket.
Keep on deflecting the issue, which is Republican state legislators like Mike Young and Aaron Freeman. They refuse to stand up for their constituents and get the city of Indianapolis road funding.
Finally an option that isn’t ugly. How about plain white?
