The department said Monday that 1,000,163 official cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in the state, after 701 more cases were reported on Sunday. The cumulative total of cases rose by 3,822 over the weekend.
Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 decreased from 1,577 on Saturday to 1,576 on Sunday, their lowest number since Aug. 16. Hospitalizations reached a recent peak of 2,687 on Sept. 13. COVID patients occupy nearly 20% of Indiana’s intensive care unit beds.
One more COVID-19 death was reported to the department on Sunday, but the cumulative total rose by 58 over the weekend, to 15,771. The seven-day moving average of new deaths dropped from 18 per day to 14 per day, the health department said.
More than 3.3 million Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Monday at 5 a.m., after a weekend increase of 8,928. More than 235,000 Hoosiers have already gotten vaccine boosters, with a weekend increase of nearly 15,000.
The health department said 58.8% of Indiana residents 18 and older are now fully vaccinated.

If 1,000,000 have contracted the virus they now have immunity and should be added to the 3,300,000 who have been vaccinated (and now have immunity) which brings Indiana to a 77% immunity level. (not 59%)
The people that have had it should have their own category as fully vaccinated people are not immune. I got it and almost died. I got it from a fully vaccinated person that also got it.
Only those that have had COVID have anything close to immunity. With vaccinations, its hit or miss. The former leader of the CDC just mentioned on Fox News that over the last month over 40% of the people that have died from COVID were fully vaccinated but then said more people should get vaccinated. With a protection rate like that why would you risk it?
No seems to know and you can’t trust anyone or anything when it comes to this virus.
Neil D, sorry to hear. Do you mean those previously infected should have own category? I’m confused by your wording. Also, unclear, but seems like you were vaccinated before getting. Correct?
Time to audit and verify each case for the truth.
Statistics from those found to be, and admitted previously themselves as flawed can’t be trusted especially when they’ve been willingly supplied to bolster political policies over true science.
