So, shut down IndyGo and replace it with Uber and Lyft.
Further dilute the ability to fix roads by taking a pot of money that’s too small and further diluting it.
The answer to the problems faced by Indianapolis is simple … it’s called money, and the primary reason Indianapolis doesn’t have it is due to Statehouse Republicans. When Indianapolis Republicans have traction with fixing that issue, they will start winning elections in Marion County again.
Agreed. A whole lot of promises without any plan or possible way to pay for any of it.
This tax idea of his sure sounds like a forced reverse mortgage to me. So let me get this straight: you don’t have to pay your additional taxes; the city pays them for you; they keep track, likely including accrued interest; and, when you die, they take the balance due out of the proceeds from the sale of your home. Keep in mind home equity is one of the few ways families can emerge from poverty in the first place, and this fella, in the name of some sort of bizarre tax relief, is planning to tap that equity to make it seem like he is a caring human. Mr. Shreve seems to be trying to buy a public legacy that he was not able to accrue as a storage building developer. he is naive, and completely out of his element. Is this what our political system has come to? Yet another rich guy looking to make a public mark by pandering with no real actionable ideas or agenda… sounds very familiar to me.
