  1. The NCAA created the problem and now wants the federal government to bail them out.

Their previous policies were so bad they lost at the Supreme Court 9-0, which is darn near impossible these days.

In the revenue generating sports, they’re professional athletes whose primary job is to play sports.

    1. Actually many decision at SCOTUS are 9-0, 8-1, etc.

Looked it up, and last term 28 out of the 58 argued were unanimously decided (solely, or with a concurring opinion), in other words without a dissent.

  2. Gonna have to pay them all….and maybe they should. They will lose in the courts….and maybe they should. The kids have had the short end of the deal for ever. But the days of student athlete and small TV and media contracts are over. The colleges and NCAA have raped the kids….and it may now be over.

  3. This is getting totally out of control. Whatever happened to the concept of student-athletes? Division 1 schools athletic programs are becoming nothing more than semi-pro platforms feeding the NFL. Is that the role of so called higher education?

    1. What does it matter given that most of them are only allowed to take majors that don’t interfere with their year-round athletic efforts?

Just drop the charade … or give the kids four year academic scholarships they can use after their playing days are done.

  4. NIL and the portal are about 3-5 years from completely destroying college football and basketball! little more than the NBA JV league, the NBA/NFL may actually fund the NIL for 1st right to refusal.
