  1. So wait … Congress refuses to raise taxes themselves to reduce the deficit. But when the executive branch illegally imposes new consumption taxes on Americans, rather than return that money to the taxpayers who paid it, Congress wants to keep the money.

All they’ve done is further shift the balance of taxation from being income-based to consumption-based, which shifts taxes further away from the wealthy Republican donors. Keep all this in mind the next time some Republican claims to be serious about the deficit.

Also, if only we knew what happened from recent experience what happened when the government gave people money and the inflationary effects. Biden could at least say he was trying to help people out from a worldwide pandemic and the attempts at austerity that McConnell pushed didn’t work either. What’s Trump’s excuse, he had one bad idea (tariffs) and another bad idea (handing people money) will maybe cancel it out?

It’s as though maybe letting a terrible businessman with bad ideas run the world’s largest economy was a mistake. This economy will be quite the mess for the next Democratic president to work out.

  2. To sum up my elegant thoughts on this debacle of an administration – fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. This dystopian hellscape needs to end!

    1. Or as George W. Bush eloquently put it, semi-quoting The Who, “Fool me once, shame on—shame on you. Fool me—you can’t get fooled again.” If only that were actually true about MAGA voters.

  3. Trump has an issue with not understanding that U.S. funds are NOT his personnal piggy bank to be spent anyway he feels. Congress needs to remind him that they are the only one’s, under the constitution, allowed to spend money (but they seem to forget that when Trump talks). The funds from the illegal taxes (tariffs) are insufficient to cover the cost of his attempt to buy the mid-term elections and would only add to the national debt. Just another attempt to rig the elections by the Chief Election Rigger.

    1. True, but good luck with that. When asked where the money would come from he shrugged and said he didn’t know.

    1. Yes. And the funny part is that of the 3 COVID-era stimulus checks, Trump was president for 2 of them.

Trump apparently going for 3/4 stimulus checks instead of 2/3.
