The labor union said Tuesday that
Nancy Guyott (GIE’-ott) was elected during the group’s state convention last week. She replaces the retiring Ken Zeller, who’s
been president since 1998.
Guyott is the first woman to be president of the Indiana AFL-CIO.
The Indiana
AFL-CIO is a federation of 800 local unions across the state belonging to 50 International unions. It represents more than
300,000 working Hoosiers.
Guyott has served as the AFL-CIO’s counsel for five years. She also spent 12 years with
the Indiana Department of Labor, serving as its commissioner from 2003 to 2005.
