Tenneco Inc. announced Wednesday that work is underway preparing an existing 150,000-square-foot building in a Jeffersonville industrial park for the factory.
The Lake Forest, Illinois-based company says it expects production will start at the America Place Business Park at the River Ridge Commerce Center by January, with workers building catalytic converters and other emission-control products for companies including Ford and General Motors.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. is offering Tenneco about $1.3 million in conditional tax credits and $119,000 in training grants based on its hiring plans.
Tenneco says it now has about 26,000 employees worldwide, with 1,200 workers in Indiana at factories in Angola, Elkhart and Ligonier.
