Chiyoda USA Corp. plans to expand its Greencastle plant, which company officials said will create 300 jobs by the end of 2017.

Officials for the Japanese auto parts manufacturer said Monday that the company will construct a 90,000-square-foot facility at its existing U.S. headquarters about 50 miles west of Indianapolis. The building, which will house a new paint line, will be adjacent to the company’s current building at 2200 State Road 240 E.

The new investment will include additional equipment at the company’s current facility to increase manufacturing capacity for one of its primary customers, Subaru of Indiana Automotive.

Opened in May 2005, the company’s Greencastle location employs 133 full-time and 100 temporary workers. Chiyoda USA started construction this month and expects to begin hiring for production and supervisor positions within the next six months.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Chiyoda up to $1.23 million in conditional tax credits and up to $75,000 in training grants based on the company’s job-creation plans. The city of Greencastle will consider additional incentives.

Chiyoda USA is owned by Japan-based Chiyoda Manufacturing Corp., which is headquartered in Ota City, Gunma, Japan. The company produces a variety of automotive parts, including air conditioning ducts, gusset covers, roof rail covers, rear spoilers and fender moldings, trunks and trunk covers, hood grills, side protectors, bumper covers, harnesses and camera covers.
