Yorktown-based Mursix Corp. on Thursday announced plans for a $7.1 million headquarters expansion that’s expected to create 108 jobs by 2017.

The project will add 75,000 square feet of manufacturing space to the company’s existing 175,000-square-foot building on its 15-acre campus in Yorktown, about 60 miles northeast of Indianapolis in Delaware County.

Mursix plans to use the added space to produce components for alternative energy applications such as converters and inverters used in hybrid trucks and vehicles.

Founded in 1990 in Yorktown, Mursix manufactures precision components for the automotive, appliance, alternative energy, electronics and security markets. The company already employs 280 workers in Yorktown and Indianapolis.

The company said it would begin adding manufacturing, engineering, quality and administrative employees this year.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Mursix up to $625,000 in conditional tax credits and $75,000 in training grants based on the company's job-creation plans. Delaware County will consider additional incentives.
