Indiana’s three U.S. Senate candidates—all vying to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Dan Coats—have agreed to debate in October.
The Indiana Debate Commission announced Thursday morning that Democrat Evan Bayh, Republican Todd Young and Libertarian Lucy Brenton will debate on live television on Oct. 18 in a debate to be held from 7 to 8 p.m.
They will debate in a studio at WFYI in Indianapolis.
The debate commission is still trying to schedule a second debate between the candidates. In recent polling, the race appears to be a tossup between former senator and Indiana governor Bayh and current U.S. representative Young.
“The campaigns have been cooperating with us as we have been working toward scheduling two debates in recent weeks,” Dan Byron, president of the debate commission, said in a statement. “We are confident we will accomplish that with the candidates, who understand the need for voters to learn their positions on domestic and international affairs so important to Indiana and the nation.”
