“The Music of Prince”

There’s rain in the forecast—“Purple Rain,” that is—when the ISO tunes into the music of the iconic star. A full rock band and vocalists fill out the stage for conductor/arranger Brent Havens’ extensions of songs from the Prince catalog. Oct. 14, Nov. 22 Hilbert Circle Theatre Details

Maria Muldaur

The label “one-hit-wonder” sometimes masks a terrific career musician who happened to catch popular lightning in a bottle once. So, yes, Maria Muldaur had a hit back in 1974 with “Midnight at the Oasis,” but before and after, she explored roots music, jazz, R&B, gospel, and even jug-band music while also paying tribute to—and continuing the tradition of—outstanding blues women. Bard Fest

The bard is back for a second annual festival pulling together the work of three local companies.
