“Spotlight”

The best annual sample of Indiana performance arts groups returns with, once again, proceeds benefiting the Indiana AIDS Fund. Included on the bill this year are the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre, Indianapolis Opera, Actors Theatre of Indiana, Dance Kaleidoscope, and many more. “Mozart and Salieri”

Not only is the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra playing up the rivalry between the two composers by playing work by both, it has also commissioned a symphonic poem from Dejan Lazic. That piece, “Mozart and Salieri,” will have its world premiere during this Thursday-Friday offering. April 27-28 Hilbert Circle Theatre  Details

The Time Jumpers

One of the pleasures of visiting Nashville, Tennessee, is hearing outstanding-but-largely-anonymous studio musicians playing great music. This group, formed by such musicians along with certified star Vince Gill, is now finding a following of its own for its brand of Western swing. April 28 Palladium  Details
