Re/Max Centerstone, one of the largest residential real estate brokerages in the Indianapolis area, has merged with another RE/MAX-affiliated brokerage to give it greater reach and a strong presence downtown.

The merger between Avon-based Centerstone and Re/Max Metro took effect Tuesday. The combined company has about 80 agents, including the eight to 10 agents who worked for Re/Max Metro.

The combined firm will do business under the Re/Max Centerstone name, said Centerstone broker/owner Lance Rhoades. He described the merger as absorbing the Metro office and taking over its assets.

Rhoades said the former Metro brokerage will function as a fourth office for Centerstone, which was founded in 2001 and has locations in Avon, Plainfield and Brownsburg. Metro, which was founded in 2010, runs its office at 971 N. Delaware St.

Plans call for adding more agents to the former Metro brokerage, Rhoades said. He also is considering moving that office to Fountain Square to take advantage of growth prospects in the hot housing market southeast of downtown.

Monika Mueller, broker/owner of Re/Max Metro, will remain involved with the business for the next several months to help with the transition, Rhoades said.

According to IBJ’s 2018 Book of Lists, Re/Max Centerstone ranks 11th among Indianapolis-area residential real estate agencies based on 2016 sales. The agency sold 1,421 homes with a combined value of $241.1 million that year.

Re/Max Metro ranked 30th on that list, selling 250 homes in 2016 with a combined value of $35.9 million.
