Here are just a few of this week's A&E offerings that rose to the top of my list.

Beethoven’s “Pastoral”

Catch Ludwig in a chill mood as the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra tackles his Sixth Symphony. Baritone Thomas Hampson (with over 150 albums to his credit) and mezzo soprano Kelley O’Conner join in on a program that also includes Mahler’s songs from “The Magic Horn of Youth.” Jan. 26-27 Hilbert Circle Theatre Details

“The Rink”

Kander and Ebb are best known as the composer/lyricist team behind “Chicago” and “Cabaret.” But among their less-often-revived musicals is this mother/daughter tale that originally starred Chita Rivera and Liza Minelli (as well as a then-unknown Jason Alexander). Buck Creek Players is offering a rare opportunity to see and hear the show with a cast led by mother/daughter acting duo Georgeanna Teipen and Miranda Nehrig. Jan. 26-Feb. 11 Buck Creek Playhouse Details

Mozart Birthday Celebration

Pianist Sean Chen teams with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra for a program that celebrates Mozart’s birthday with his “Jupiter” symphony. The undercard includes Shostakovich’s Piano Concert No. 1 and a world premiere from composer Chen-Hui Jen. Jan. 27  Schrott Center Details
