A popular doughnut shop in Fortville plans to move to a much larger location in Fishers.

Sunrise Bakery, which has operated in downtown Fortville at 101 W. Broadway St. for the past five years, will relocate to Fishers later this year and close its Fortville location.

Sunrise Bakery will open in an office development planned for F.C. Tucker Co. at the northwest corner of 104th Street and Olio Road. Sunrise will lease the space from F.C. Tucker.

The new space will be about 4,000 square feet, allowing the bakery to expand its offerings, said co-owner Henry Kitterman, who owns the restaurant with his sister, Katy, and mother and father, John and Susan Kitterman.

Henry Kitterman told IBJ the bakery anticipates moving in November. They’ve outgrown their current location, which is about 1,300 square feet.

Although the bakery will leave Fortville, Kitterman said the family hopes to eventually open a new location there once they’re settled in Fishers.

“Our motto is one restaurant at a time,” he said.

Fortville is growing quickly, especially on Broadway Street, and the family wants to continue to be part of that, he said.

In the meantime, they hope Fortville residents who have become regulars will visit the new shop, which is less than five miles to the west.

The new bakery will feature all of the restaurant’s current offerings—including doughnuts, cannolis, turnovers, coffee and smoothies—and also will allow the Kittermans to try deli fare, like breakfast or lunch sandwiches.
