    1. Interesting take. Here are details on China’s approach to the Dark Ages- “As of 2024, China is constructing coal power plants at a high rate. According to a report by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) and Global Energy Monitor (GEM), China began building 94.5 gigawatts (GW) of new coal power capacity and resumed construction on 3.3 GW of previously halted projects in 2024, marking the highest level of construction in the past 10 years.”

    2. China doesn’t care about the effects of pollution caused by burning coal. Its supply of laborers available to replace those who were killed by it is endless and cheap.

  1. Without coal production increases along with mini-nuclear there won’t be adequate power for the burgeoning AI construction. Even placing windmills and solar panels in every county in every state that builds, wouldn’t do it. I’ll take reduced, more efficient modern processing coal to miles and miles of ugly, inadequate windmills.

    1. Instead of fast tracking nuclear fusion research (promising breakthroughs recently) our President is looking in the rear view trying to resuscitate a dead industry. Mini nuclear and coal don’t mix. That plan is colossal waste of time and resources.

    2. While I agree SMRs will be part of the future, battery storage technology is advancing and can be used to fill the gaps rather coal.
