Credit Card fees in the US are a hidden tax on the whole economy. In Europe they are capped and average about 0.3%. In the US the average is 9 times higher at 2.7%. It is a hidden tax on the economy that everyone pays even if you’re paying cash because merchants have those fees baked into their
prices.
I know my scout troop pays about 3.5% to accept card payments for Christmas greenery.
Want lower retail prices across the board in the US? Regulate card fees!!!
This feels like a back room deal and I don’t expect the average consumer will see any of this.
How about just paying cash?
