  1. As always, help those working to climb out. Do a better job weeding out the weak ones.
Put many to work cleaning the trash from the road sides. Mow the lawns the city neglects. Maybe then ill feel sympathy for air administration’s dilemna.

  2. As a landlord, I would not accept the funds due to the landlord “you must” and “you can’t” language that has to be agreed to. I have tenants who were/are gainfully employed in 2021 and 2022, who are never late on rent, did not have covid or the like, who were signing up for this assistance. When quizzed if there was an issue in the household, so I could work with them (which I always do), in 3 separate cases, they were telling me they were told by government entities, government social workers, etc. that anybody could get the funds if they just signed up. Once they signed up, and I refused to accept the funds, I would get bombarded with emails, and post cards in the mail from the program, requesting I accept the landlord terms and complete the transaction. As of last month, I was still getting post cards for a couple who’s combined income was over $100K a year, and who moved out of state first of June. I am sure there are people who did need assistance during covid, but that ship has sailed. I’m sure there are people who truly need it now, but I also know IndyRent was making it way too easy to get the handout, and now SURPRISE, they’re out of money.

Yet another poorly run program, with little to no “verification” needed to get more free money when they were flush with cash. But, its not free…….all hard working soles are paying for it!!!! I personally don’t want to continue to fund “handout” programs. In most cases, bad tenants will always be bad tenants….stop bailing them out.

    1. Karen, this exactly. Sorry to hear that and I’ve read other about situations just like it. Lots of people took advantage of the handouts and now we get to experience the aftermath (looming recession).
