April 22, 2010

Some notes from around the arts and entertainment world.

--The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has added an Aug. 15 special event to its Symphony on the Prairie schedule. Garrison Keillor will host "A Prairie Home Companion: Summer Love" concert that will include appearances by singer/songwriter/fiddler Sara Watkins and sound-effects man Fred Newman. General public tickets go on sale May 10.

-On the community theater side, Carmel Repertory Theatre will be offering the local premiere of Jason Robert Brown's Broadway musical "13." Auditions for the all-teen show are in June with the production running in October.

--The Cleveland Symphony, which canceled an IU Bloomington visit due to a musicians' strike, has rescheduled. Look for the acclaimed orchestra to visit in January for a residency leading to a Jan. 25 concert.
