Want to see Sondheim?

April 22, 2009
On Thursday, April 30, Stephen Sondheim will be discussing his career in an on-stage interview with NPR's Scott Simon at IU Auditorium in Bloomington. Stephen Sondheim

Yes, it's the same Stephen Sondheim who wrote the music and lyrics for, among others, "Sweeney Todd," "Company," "Into the Woods," and "A Little Night Music," as well as lyrics for "Gypsy" and "West Side Story."

So who's up for trekking to Bloomington for this once-in-a-Hoosier-lifetime event?

The program, which begins at 8, is free, but tickets are required. If you are interested in going, just send me a note at lharry@ibj.com before noon on Monday 27th (put Sondheim trip in the subject line) and I'll make the group reservation.

I'll also e-mail the group with a possible meeting place and time so that perhaps we can do some car pooling. And I'll have some Sondheim trivia and other stuff to help the car ride go quicker.

While you are here at the blog, feel free to post below your favorite experience seeing (or being a part of) a Sondheim show.
