More schedule scoops

April 27, 2009
--Among the performers slated for the yet-to-be-announced 2009/10 Clowes Hall series of concerts: Jazz artist Joshua Redman on Sept. 19, Ballet Hispanico on Oct. 10, a big name country artist and former CMA Male Vocalist of the Year on Nov. 6 (I'm respectfully holding back because he's got another nearby gig coming up and there are contract issues), hip hop dance troupe "Groovaloo" on Jan. 29, Bela Fleck on Feb. 19 and chamber orchestra Academy of St. Martin in the Fields on April 10.

--The Indianapolic Chamber Orchestra will soon be announcing its schedule, including a follow-up to the popular silent movie/live music screening of "The General" early this year at the Indianapolis Museum of Art's Tobias Theatre. Next time, we'll be seeing a Buster Keaton short as well as the Harold Lloyd classic "Safety Last."

--The Cabaret at the Connoisseur Room has followed through on its promise to mix local acts with the out-of-town headliners. Upcoming shows include performances by American Cabaret Theatre favorites Brenda Williams (June 26-27). Jimmy Guilford (July 11), Shannon Forsell (Aug. 14-15) and Deb Mullins (Sept. 25-26). Also, if you miss the ACT slide shows, keep an eye out for a potentially interesting new production called "Enter Love" (Nov. 5-6) with original musical--and photographs--by Lynn Lupold.
