I couldn't say it better than IBJ's Eight@8, so I repeat here, with links. Also, while "The Voice" tour isn't (yet) scheduled for Indianapolis, it is set for Chicago July 16.
And sometimes life just gets it right.
A few months ago, Josh Kaufman was a 38-year-old SAT test tutor and family man who gigged around Indianapolis as a blue-eyed soul singer, including a lunchtime slot at the Circle's Potbelly. Today, he is the newly crowned winner of NBC's "The Voice," with a record contract and a new car (brought to you by Kia!). Critics agreed: Kaufman was the class of the Season 6 class.
If you can only watch one performance, here's his scorching cover of Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" from the finals. (His "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" is solid as well.) The bespectacled and bookish Kaufman couldn't be more humble and modest. (Here's his exit interview.)
Is he the next Steve Winwood or this year's Taylor Hicks? Who cares? He's ours, and he's a winner.
