Crossroads Comedy Festival

Sean Patton, Sheldon (which is actually two guys), and The Boys (who are actually women) are the headline acts for this second annual festival. But there are plenty of other shows to see throughout the weekend—some for as little as $5. Included in the lineup are Bloomington’s David Britton; L.A.-based Indiana expat stand-up comedian Briana Hansen; and Buzzed Broadway, an improvised musical and audience-drinking game. Art of Time Ensemble: “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”

It’s been far more than 20 years since the Beatles recorded the iconic album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” More than twice that, in fact. But the music still lives. For this concert, Steven Page, founder and former frontman for Barenaked Ladies, joins a string-focused group that neither totally rethinks nor slavishly copies the original. Instead, it’s treated as any legit interpreter would. Listen for a particularly strong “A Day in the Life.” Oct. 8 Butler University Clowes Memorial Hall Details

“Into the Woods”

At the northwest-side dinner theater, you can just about always count on a theatrical happy ending along with your dessert. In this Stephen Sondheim/James Lapine fairy tale mash-up musical, however, the first act is significantly sunnier than the last.
