IU Health plans to open medical office in Westfield

IU Health is expanding into Westfield.

A new 9,800-square-foot medical office planned as part of the Spring Mill Station development near the southeast corner of 161st Street and Spring Mill Road is expected to include a new primary care office for IU Health Physicians.

IU Health spokesman Jeffrey Swiatek said the office will occupy 5,000 square feet of the building. Initially, two physicians—Andrew McLaren and Jennifer Mardos—will practice at the facility.

Both specialize in family medicine. McLaren is currently practicing in Carmel, and Mardos is in Zionsville.

The plan is to have four to five physicians eventually at that location, but Swiatek did not provide a timeline.

It will be the first Westfield facility for IU Health. The closest existing locations are in Carmel. 

Cooperstown Partners LLC is leading the 7.65-acre-commercial development that is also expected to include a 12,900-square-foot CVS Pharmacy and a 10,150-square-foot retail building.

The CVS Pharmacy has received approval from the city, but detailed plans for the remaining retail building have not been presented yet.

Several existing homes will be removed for the development, and there will be a 1.3-acre common area and walking path around the property, according to documents filed with the city.

West of the property, Westfield Residential Investors LLC and EdgeRock Development have proposed a 290-unit apartment complex on 20 acres previously owned by Westfield-Washington School District. Two acres of land on the northeast side of the school district’s former property have been reserved for commercial or retail development, with the hopes of securing a daycare center.

That project has also already received the necessary approvals.
