People are quitting jobs; that's a good thing

June 9, 2010

Fifteen straight months of declining voluntary departures from jobs ended in the past quarter, an Associated Press report says. That’s considered good news, because employees are confident enough in the economy to jump to new jobs or even quit outright.

Not many people are leaving jobs—only 2 million in April. But the reversal suggests workers are finding new jobs and are losing their fear of landing a new position only to be laid off because they were the among the last hired.

Top-performing workers are expected to quit in waves after having grown weary of accomplishing ever-more work for their recession-battered employers.

What are your thoughts? Are you confident enough in the economy to bail out of a job you don’t like?
